What is PSORIASIS?

PSORIASIS is a skin disorder that causes skin cells to multiply 10 times quicker than ordinary skin cells. This creates bumpy red patches covered with white scales for the skin. They can develop anywhere, but most of them appear on the scalp, elbows, ankles, and lower back. It is not possible to pass psoriasis from one person to another and not contagious at all. It sometimes happens in the same family members.

Psoriasis usually occurs at an early age. It affects just a few areas for most people. Psoriasis can cover large sections of the body in severe cases. The patches can heal and then return throughout the lifetime of a person.

ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES

A number of alternative therapies, including special diets, creams, dietary supplements, and herbs, claim to relieve the symptoms of psoriasis. Alternative therapies are usually considered safe, and in decreasing signs and symptoms such as itching and scaling they may be useful to some individuals. These treatments would be best suited for those with milder plaque disease, not those with pustules, erythroderma, or arthritis.
